Up to 250,000 women and three million newborn babies die each year in pregnancy and childbirth or soon afterwards.
In the UK the risk of a woman dying in childbirth is only one in 8,200. In Malawi it is one in 18. But it is possible to prevent women and babies in poor communities dying in such great numbers - often through simple, low cost actions. Progress is being made, but much remains to be done.
Women and Children First is making a difference but we need your help to raise both awareness and funds to enable us to continue our vital work. There are many ways that you can get involved. You can sign up to our e-newsletter, follow us on twitter, join us on Facebook in order to stay up to date with issues and our programme activities. Simple actions such as sending a link to our site to a friend or colleague or adding a link to us on your website or blog can help us spread awareness.
If you are able to support us financially you can make a one off donation or set up a regular gift. Just £5 a month could make a big difference.
If you are taking part in an event or would like to set up your own fundraising activity please click through to the fundraising pages for advice and some issues you need to consider.
Thank you for your support.
