Have fun - and fundraise
Set up and organise your own fundraising event or activity with friends, family or work colleagues.
Our free fundraising pack gives you more guidance and inspiration, so you can enjoy your fundraising whilst making a massive difference in the world’s poorest communities.
It can be great fun for everyone involved. What's more, you'll be raising money to save and support the lives of women, children and young people.
Here’s a few of our favourite fundraising ideas. Download our fundraising pack for more inspiration and guidance, including tips on how to publicise your fundraising and keep it legal.
Bake and cake sale
Everyone loves a delicious, moist sweet treat. Try a tasting competition (encouraging people to have more than one slice!) or coffee morning. Themes can also be popular – best chocolate cake, most unique flavour (lavender and rose?) or even vegan, egg-less recipes.
Encourage people to donate £1-2 per slice.
Ask your local pub or community hall to donate some space. Think up some questions, use posters to promote it to friends and colleagues, charge an entry fee. To inspire more people to come along, try not to restrict it to a narrow theme - concentrating on sports can put people off!
Encourage people to come along in teams, £5 per person.
Clothes or book swaps
Great for when you work in a big office with lots of staff. Take your unwanted books or clothes, ask your colleagues to do the same and then swap them for each other. You can get some great bargains and also make it an opportunity to talk to colleagues from different teams.
You can either charge people a flat entry fee, or £2 per item taken.
Fun with the family
Involve partners and children to get fit and have fun too! New mums can aim to do 10k steps a day for a month with babies in their pram. A sponsored teddy bears picnic can also be great fun (check for any food allergies) or a car wash to people down your road.
