Sustainable Development Goals

Ensuring that no one is left behind.

At Women and Children First, we support local communities in achieving this – enabled by your kind donations.

Starting in 2016, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) built on the success of the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The MDGs started a global effort to tackle extreme poverty and hunger and the SDGs are a bold commitment to finish what was started.

For 15 years, the MDGs made progress in several important areas like HIV/AIDS, the death of children and the health of mothers.

However, there are still improvements to be made for millions of people around the world, especially the poorest.

That is why at the heart of the SDGs there is a commitment to make sure that ‘no one is left behind’. No goal is considered met unless met for all.

Women and Children First is supporting local communities to tackle these goals. In particular, the charity focuses on:

  • Goal 3 on health and wellbeing

  • Goal 5 on gender equality and empowerment of women and girls
